Geoff Alway – Proprietor

Geoff is widely known as one of Australia’s pre-eminent collectors of Australian Rules football and cricket memorabilia, football and cricket trading cards, horse racing and Olympic Games sporting memorabilia, comics, vintage toys, ephemera and collectables. He began collecting at age five, and he has spent the majority of his life passionately pursuing his hobbies and adding to his burgeoning collection. In 1983, he established his own collectable business specialising in Australian sporting and trading cards, Australian and U.S. published comics and associated collectables. Geoff has been a regular trader at various notable collectable fairs and forums around the country since that time.

A valuer’s expertise is developed over many years of learning and practical experience. You cannot expect to become an expert overnight in this most varied and stimulating vocation. Bringing a wealth of industry knowledge, love, passion and experience to his specialised and diverse collecting fields, Geoff is regularly sought out by traders and collectors to provide advice and to formally assess and value individual items and collections. He has worked as a consultant with numerous private clients and has valued and/or acted for many of Australia’s most prominent dealers and collectors when they have acquired or sold their items or collections or placed them at auction.

With strong and extensive business and social networks across Australia, Geoff is a consummate and focused professional. He has extensive experience as a Chief Risk Officer and senior leader within the law enforcement/public sector and is regularly sought out as a strategic risk management consultant and advisor. He has significant experience and understanding of current auction and valuation processes and methodology, as well as an in-depth practical knowledge of the prevailing collectables market trends and understanding of the changing prices and values across all categories. Geoff can be relied upon to provide professional services to prepare well-researched, authoritative and objective verbal or written market based analysis, advice, appraisals and valuations for determining what prices items might reasonably sell for at public auction, corporate or personal insurance replacement assessments, inventory requirements, estate planning, probate, matrimonial settlements and superannuation purposes.

Geoff is an active member of numerous specialist societies, including The Ephemera Society of Australia Inc. and the Australian Cartophilic Society Inc. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of the AFL Premiership Players Club Inc.

Geoff is an AVAA (Auctioneers & Valuers Association of Australia) Certified Practising Valuer.
